No. A sewing machine constructs garments, inserts zips and makes buttonholes. An overlocker trims and finishes edges efficiently and can assemble suitable knit seams, but it does not replace the ordinary machine. Begin with a sewing machine you can control; add an overlocker when edge finishing is a recurring bottleneck.
